29 FEBRUARY & 1 MARCH 2016

For almost 10 years Midstream College have been visited Induna Adventures for a couple of days as part of their annual Grade 11 school camp breakaway. This year was no different.

A total of 171 Grade 11 Children poured out of 4 buses on their arrival at Induna Adventures. Induna quickly turned to loud chattering of exciting children knowing that their day filled with adventure awaits them.

All children gathered on our sports field to be divided into groups and to be allocated to their activity that each group will start off with. An option of 4 activities, Rafting, Paintball, zipline and the Mac Mac hiking trail was on their agenda. The children were truly excited to have learned that we offered them the geckoing / Tubing activity in place of the rafting. The children were off to their first activity excited to start their adventurous day.

The Gecko’ers were dressed and ready, we transported them with 4X4 vehicles to the starting point, where they got a briefing of what to expect, all the yeah’s and No’s. A few kids were a bit scared of our 9m jump, but they pulled all their courage together and most of them took that big leap of faith.

On the Induna side the paintball guns were shooting, the boys seemed real proud of their battle marks, as they engaged in close combat, the girls was a little bit more cautious.  Yes a paintball bullet can leave you with a couple of blue marks.  Fully strapped into a harness, students overcome their fear, by flying down the mountain on our famous zipline. The rest of the students went on our Mac Mac hiking trail, a 9km hike next to the river through indigenous bush and forest roads. The kids used the opportunity to bum slide and swim in the river to cool off.

After each group had finished their first activity, their lunch packs were ready for them. Chatter everywhere as they trade stories of their venture they were on and what to expect for their next activity.

Midstream College students were well disciplined and were ready to jump of cliffs, fly, shoot and hike along the Mac Mac River. All students were enthusiastic and were full of energy to take on any adventure thrown at them.
